Hi NEENZ - Very well written post.

Your point on about the visitor coming in on a cruise ship being about as touristy as you can get is a very, very valid point. If you're a ship with a thousand tourists, you're going to be overwhelmed with a touristy feeling. Plus, if you end up taking the cruise ship's excursions, you've enhanced the "touristyness". (New word I'm inventing here. :-) )

I consider myself blessed that I have had the opportunity to visit all the beautiful islands of Hawaii (except for the 2 you can't visit, of course.) I haven't found Hawaii to be too touristy. Sure, there's a few spots that tend to be tourist laden, but I don't tend to hang out there. I love the scenery the best...the diverse climates....the beautiful rain forests....the incredible beaches...the rolling, twisted shape of the volcanic mountains....it's all so amazing. So, I tend to appreciate Hawaii for it's natural beauty and there's nothing touristy about that. If that guy Chris had bothered to get onto a hiking trail anywhere in Hawaii, I think he'd have a different opinion.

OK...I'll shut up now before I get myself in trouble. :-)

I will second that remark, Ryan S.! I don't think I would survive either. Home is home and that's what Oahu is -- my home!

Well, no matter if someone else would live here or not... I always will. I'd not survive elsewhere, because I can't live without my heart.
