Glad you highlighted some of the groups with "standards" for journalists.

I am a columnist, expert in my field, and blogger...with about six running at the moment. I like blogging because of the freedom and because of the interaction that happens at a much greater degree.

I think when you look at the media in general, you are going to see a vast difference depending on the media.

Recently I was sent an invite to become a citizen journalist for a large paper. Wow, what a great opportunity--I thought. That was until I read their terms, write for free so they profit basically. Yes, I could grow my audience but why make another job for myself...but I digress except for my point is that the delineations between the two are blurring.

Take television and television journalism, for example, more and more commentaries are becoming opinion pieces. Plus, some shows are looking to the blogosphere for a pulse on what is often called pop culture trends and opinions.

I think that no matter what your sources, you have to be selective--get the cerebral juices going.

What is different is the vast variety of what is out there in the blogosphere.

Not sure where it will morph next but in time, I believe there will be less of a gap.

Hi Neenz,
Glad you added the CJ and truemors parts to this discussion. At the end of the day people come around to reasonable understandings of the landscape of "reporting and discussion.

Mechanically speaking, it seems to be the role of the early staunch defenders of each medium start the discussion from their singular points of view, which then allows the rest of us to weigh in and see a bigger picture.

Aloha, Rox

I don't consider myself to be a blogger or a journalist. I consider myself to be a diarist.

Elizabeth,

Thank you for enlightening me.

My use of "limits" are a negative way of looking at things, and having more to do with the type of person I strive to become, I shall remember your words.

Aloha,
NEENZ

I think you hit on something there in closing. The limits you described. Some would say instead those are the disciplines...

perspective...we all have one.

Some neat stuff here. Thanks for posting it, and thanks for your perspective. I like learning from folks who are thoughtful, and who take time to think through their perspective.

(Some times, I rush in).
