I share everything with Lilinoe, including my “geek gatherings” like Unconferenz, Bloggers Dinner with Jeremiah Owyang, and The Samurai Game. Like many parents, there are times when we can attend a function as a family and then there are the stag outings. The stag outings are some times desired because let’s face it, everyone needs a complete break from their loved ones from time to time, if only to build a better appreciation. But, for me, I want to share every experience with Lilinoe that I keep my solo outings to a minimum.
Lloyd Y. Asato is someone I follow on Twitter whom offered his hospitality during my recent family vacation in Arizona, unfortunately I wasn’t able to take him up on his offer. So, when he tweet’d that he’d be coming home to Hawaii, I made sure I was available – and Lilinoe too.
It was my first time at Chart House in Waikiki, but to be honest I can’t give a review of anything more than the drinks and poke. It was one particular drink, Guy Tai which also happened to be part of the title of Lloyd’s Upcoming announcement, “Guy Tais and Geeks” that drew us to the restaurant on the west end of Waikiki with a brilliant view of the sunset. Lloyd swears by it, but a whiff of the alcohol content made me pass. Besides, I have a personal rule of not upgrading from Coors Light.
The conversation spanned the globe of all things geek and I enjoyed getting together again with Ryan Ozawa and Joe Philipson, and meeting new people including Eric from HawaiiStories and of course, Lloyd. Most importantly, Lilinoe said that she surprisingly had a great time. Hey, geeks rock!
