I have been a Sprint customer since 2002, and am grateful to have not experienced any of the harshness that thousands of customers or now former customers have complained about. Perhaps it’s because my service has been, well – just for the convenience of having a mobile phone and nothing more. In the past six years, I’ve had three phones: the free Nokia that I purchased with my initial subscription, an upgraded version of the same type of phone but this time I had the sass of “flipping” it open and the option to text and now the LG Rumor.
Sure, I’d love to have a mobile phone that would up my geek status, but just before I justify a splurge, I remind myself I have more important investments – Lilinoe, Chelsea and Jayden. LG Rumor is my splurge, and it has everything that I need today.
I needed a camera so that I could capture moments and either UTTERZ or TwitPic to my online community. The LG Rumor is better, it has a camcorder! Unfortunately, both UTTERZ and TwitPic are incompatible with Sprint’s PictureMail – oh well, I’m sure they’ll work out those issues!
I wanted the convenience of a keyboard, I mean I do have Polynesian hands which in comparison aren’t that dainty. The LG Rumor has a built-in hidden, Qwerty keyboard. I love this feature, it’s Polynesian-thumb friendly and easy to use.
I budgeted in and subscripted to data services because I needed to have access to my email accounts while on the road. In its initial reviews, one of the “bad” qualities was that service was slow – it’s my first data phone, I wouldn’t know the difference and I get my emails when I need them so, LG Rumor has met this need too.
I desired Bluetooth, and only for the earpiece feature because there are times when I need to work on my laptop while conducting a conversation – it’s just so much easier. LG Rumor met this need, however I must pont out for the bluetooth gurus – everything else needs to be done manually.
Sprint allows me a MyContent folder for music, games, screensavers, and ringtones. Yeah, I don’t do any of those things. In fact, my default ring is the old school “ring, ring.”
So what prompted me to purchase a new phone after all of these years? You may recall we stayed at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort during our vacation in Arizona. No, I didn’t lose it in the parking lot or forget it in the room. I was so excited to jump into the pool at the River Ranch, I forgot to take my phone out of my pocket!
