Dinner with Congressman Neil Abercrombie
The other night Lilinoe and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom in honor of long-time Hawai’i Congressman Neil Abercrombie’s birthday. The room was filled with familiar faces waving the Democratic blue party flag in their heart; City Council Woman Ann Kobayashi, recently added blogger to Hawaii.Alltop.com State Representative Jon Riki Karamatsu, Hawaii Democratic Party Chairman Brian Schatz, Master of Ceremonies and host of local talk show “Nite Time” Andy Bumatai, Honolulu Socialite and Über cool lady Christa Wittmeir and longtime family friend Mayor Mufi Hannemann.
The most impressive part of the dinner was the implementation of new media, spearheaded by Oceanit’s Marketing Manager, Ian Kitajima with the support of the very multi-talented Joe Philipson of Philipson Photography. The Congressman is utilizing social media tools on Facebook, Twitter and his website uses the Ning platform.
I didn’t get a chance to talk story with the Congressman, not because I’m not assertive enough but I had already confirmed a dinner invitation for tonight. The guest list includes, host of Hawai’i’s newest technology radio show Bytemarks Cafe, Burt Lum; Former News Anchor and current Public Relations guru, Angela Keen; Congressman Abercrombie; and hosted in the home of Ian and Lianne Kitajima. I’m looking forward to spending time with friends, dining on Japanese cuisine, and backing up the Congressman on drums on the Kitajima’s new Rock Band Wii!
Sticking to the new media, all of this will be stream live on NeilAbercrombie.com.
