Hawai’i Shelf Expands on Alltop

Hawaii AlltopSince its launch in April, we’ve added a variety of sites to the Hawai’i category on Alltop or as I like to refer to it as the Hawai’i shelf on the “online magazine rack.”

The technology movement is gaining momentum throughout the State of Hawai’i and it was important to add HISciTech.org‘s job and event feeds to Hawaii.Alltop.com. The official debut of the much anticipated radio show, Bytemarks Cafe is scheduled to launch in August and you can find the podcast and blog updates on Alltop as well. Additionally, I’ve added the blog posts from the members of Tech Hui, a local technology networking group.

Featured blogger, Ryan Ozawa alerted me to three legal blogs that focus on land use law, maritime laws, and insurance laws. This provides more information not only for the local reader, but for anyone wanting to learn more about Hawai’i.

The Honolulu Star Bulletin continues to dominate the media news with more than 10 feeds, including a handful from MidWeek. A long time subscriber and reader of the Honolulu Advertiser, I was disappointed that their feeds were invalid at the time of launch. I emailed them immediately and checked validation of their feeds each week before giving up. When Senior Vice President and Editor Mark Platte wrote a piece on the Advertiser’s interest and acknowledgments of the increasing importance and popularity of blogs, I immediately emailed him. And, as expected he replied and delegated my inquiry for valid feeds, but the last I checked the main news feeds were still reporting errors and I never heard from them again.

Surprisingly though, and to the benefit of the readers at Hawaii.Alltop.com, one feed from the Advertiser proved valid, and Melissa Chang’s Urban Mix Plate was promptly added to Alltop to provide some humor and perspective of living in Hawai’i.

If you don’t know what to do, check SuperCW, Maleko or So Necessary for the latest happenings in arts, music and nightlife. Online ukulele lessons, standup paddle surfing, local fashion news and if you want to know what The Kam Family is doing, Alltop has got it covered.

Do you have a suggestion for the Hawai’i shelf? Please email to neenz@alltop.com.
