Blogging on Innovation Hawaii

The other day I had a rare and wonderful opportunity to host actor and director, Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa at the Oceanit office in Honolulu.  He arrived with an entourage of familiar faces, my friends (family rather) in the local social media industry Ricky Li, Tammi Hitchcock, and Hawaii ex-pat Lisa Mullinaux.  The trio shared that their conversation on the ride over was explaining to Hiro what kind of services Oceanit provided.  In fact they said, each had their own definition.

All were correct.  We are an engineering firm.  We are an IT firm.  We are an aerospace and defense firm.  In a nutshell, we’re an R&D firm, but even more precise Oceanit is innovation.  Everyday I am immersed in an incubator of bright and talented individuals that are working to solve the big pains of the world.  It’s a humbling feeling for me, to participate in these conversations, to offer support when I can, to not just be inspired but BLOW AWAY!

I am hoping to share these mind blowing moments (well, as much as I am allowed too) as a blogger on a new website, Innovation Hawaii.

“Innovation Hawaii is a community of individuals dedicated to the belief that building a culture of innovation is a key strategic advantage. This site highlights the activities in Hawaii that foster an environment for innovation including events, resources, best practices, tips and tools.”

I won’t be focusing only on Oceanit news, but I’ll be looking for any innovative practices, resources, projects, and events going on in Hawaii.  Are you doing something new and different?  Let me know, I’d be happy to share your story.

Also, be on the lookout for new things from Hiro, he has some innovative projects to move Hawaii and her people forward.
