Last year Chef Roy Yamaguchi extended his Aloha to Haiti after the country was hit with a devastating earthquake by hosting a fundraiser at his restaurant. Guests dined on a traditional Haitian dinner and were asked to donate whatever amount they could afford to the American Red Cross.
It was through this fundraiser that I first met Chef Roy when our mutual friend Melanie Kosaka asked for my help in promoting the event using social marketing. The dinner sold out almost immediately after my first series of tweets.
Heeding the call of our neighbors in Japan, Chef Roy is extending his Aloha once again. On Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 7 p.m. At the Original Roy’s Restaurant in Hawaii Kai, Chef Roy Yamaguchi will humbly prepare a dinner of Japanese cuisine. All proceeds will go to relief efforts in Japan.
Checks should be made out to the American Cross with a notation of Japan Relief. Dinner guests are asked to donate whatever monetary amount they can afford.
Once again, my family and I will be extending our Aloha to the community in Japan and show our support for our friend, Chef Roy.
Seating for this private dinner is limited, please call (808) 396-7697 for reservations.
