Social Media for Business Tweetup

Disclosure: Technology News Bytes comped me a ticket to the 2011 Hawaii Social Media Seminar that I then paid forward to a friend I thought would be interested in attending.

A big part of building communities is heeding the call to help, especially when there is no personal or financial gain.  About a week ago I was contacted by Technology News Bytes to help co-organize the “Social Media for Business” tweetup happening after their 2011 Hawaii Social Media Seminar.

As I most usually do, I agreed.

Rather than hustling to gather swag to give out to attendees, we came up with a swag-a-palooza idea!  Attendees are encouraged to bring not just their business cards, but their swag to exchange with each other.  One potential attendee already said that she didn’t have swag.  My reply to her was, “I’m sure you have swagga! Bring your smile, ambition, personality!”

The purpose of this tweetup is to delve deeper into your community building, to connect businesses to each other to discuss their use of social network marketing.  It’s to put the social in social media!

Co-chair Toby Tamaye is a panelist in a 30-minute discussion on “Social Media for Business” preceding the palooza.  So, if you can’t make it to entire seminar, take some time for this panel and the networking event.  Other panelists are Christa Wittmier and Jason Genegabus whom I mentioned in my previous blog about measuring influence in social media.

RSVP here and it’s $10 at the door for this 2-hour palooza event!
